ERASMUS AND FOREIGN SUMMER PRACTICES

SUMMER PRACTICE GUIDE

Explanations About Compulsory Summer Practice:

· Our curriculum requires each student to have summer practices in industrial plants, each for a duration at least 30 working days (20+20 working day). Summer practices have to be done when the university is on holiday. The summer practices less than 30 working days will NOT BE ACCEPTED.

· The students must have completed at least the IV. semester successfully to be considered valid.

In order to do summer internship, the suitability of the plants has to be confirmed by the Chemical Engineering

            Summer Practice Coordinatorship.

· At least one chemical engineer must be working in the plants.

· The summer practice of a student is evaluated by the Chemical Engineering Summer Practice Coordinatorship according to report, oral exam and summer practice form given by the plant.

Determination of the Plant for Summer Practice:

Students may themselves find the plants for summer practice, make an individual application to plants such as “PETKÝM,

TÜPRAÞ, TPAO, ROKETSAN, UNILEVER, ROCHE, ECZACIBAÞI, TÜBÝTAK, ZENTÝVA” from their  web site or

subject to approval by the Chemical Engineering Summer Practice Coordinatorship by filling the “Quota  Application

Form.

Things To Do After Summer Practice Acceptance:

· After being accepted by the plant for summer practice, students have to prepare the necessary forms at least 20 days before the beginning of the practice.

· Students have to fill the necessary parts of “Ek 3” and get it signed by the plant. Then, “Ek 4” or “Ek 5” have to be filled, confirmed. All the forms have to be delivered to Chemical Engineering Department Secreterial” and fill “Ek 2” in the secretarial.

· Students have to take the “Summer Practice Student Form” from Summer Practice Assistant Coordinators during the announced dates. In order to take this form, students must bring their current photograph near them.

Things To Do After Summer Practice:

· At the end of the summer practice, “Summer Practice Student Form” has to be delivered to the Chemical Engineering Department in a closed envelope.

· The summer practice without “Summer Practice Student Form” will NOT ACCEPTED.

· At the end of the summer practice, students are supposed to prepare a “Summer Practice Report” and this report has to be delivered to “Summer Practice Coordinatorship” within 2 months after the ending date of practice. Also, the students have to email their report in “pdf” form to “Summer Practice Assistant Coordinators”.

· After delivering the “Summer Practice Report” and “Summer Practice Student Form”, the students have to take an oral exam.

Evaluation of the Summer Practice:

· “Summer Practice Reports” are evaluated by the “Summer Practice Coordinatorship”.

· The reports out of coverage are rejected and the summer practice is NOT ACCEPTED.

· The reports written out of coverage are given to the student to be improved within 1 week and evaluated again.

· The students take an oral exam about the report.

· The effects of “Summer Practice Student Form”, “Summer Practice Report” and “Oral Examination” are, 10%, 40% and 50%, respectively.

· The grade of summer internship is determined by taking the average of each grade two summer practice.

All students are required to comply with the Engineering Faculty Internship Directive.
