Murat Caner Testik, Ph.D.

Professor of Industrial Engineering

Short Biography

Murat Caner Testik, Ph.D. is a Professor and Chair in the Department of Industrial Engineering and head of the Quality and Conformity Assessment Engineering graduate program at Hacettepe University. He has a Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University, USA.

Dr.Testik founded the Industrial Engineering Department at Hacettepe University and served as its founding chair (2005-2014), where he established the Industrial Engineering undergraduate program (2007), which has over 500 graduates, established the MSc (2012) and PhD (2019) graduate programs in Industrial Engineering, as well as the multidisciplinary Engineering Management (2014) and Quality and Conformity Assessment Engineering (2014) MSc programs. The two multidisciplinary programs mainly target the needs of industry and each has over 200 graduates. From 2012 to 2016, Dr. Testik was also the Vice Dean of Engineering Faculty at the Hacettepe University. He is currently continuing to serve as the department chair of Industrial Engineering (2016-…).

He was the President-Elect (2017-2019) and President (2019-2021) of the European Network for Business and Industrial Statistics (ENBIS). He was a council member and an elected Vice President (2009-2011, 2011-2013) of the ENBIS. Dr. Testik Chaired the Awards Committee of the ENBIS (2018 and 2019) for the George Box Medal, Young Statistician Award, Best Manager Award and was also an Awards Committee member for the George Box Medal (2009-2011, 2022), Young Statistician Award (2009-2011) and Best Manager Award (2009-2011). He is currently the Past-President (2021-2023) of ENBIS.

Dr. Testik served as the Editor-in-Chief (2016-2018) of Quality Engineering, a scholarly publication of the American Society for Quality. He was also a guest editor (2010 and 2022) for Quality and Reliability Engineering International journal. Dr. Testik chaired the Editor Search Committee (2020) of the Journal of Quality Technology, chaired the Journal Editors Committee (2017-2019) of the American Society for Quality, was a member of the Management Committee (2019-2021) of Technometrics journal, was a member of the Editor Search Committee (2017) of the Quality Engineering, and was a member of the Awards Committee (2018, 2021) for the Soren Bisgaard Award. Currently, he is an associate editor (2012-…) of IISE Transactions on Healthcare Systems Engineering journal, an editorial review board member of the Quality Engineering (2009-…) and Quality and Reliability Engineering International (2011-…), and serves as a member of the Publications Management Committee (2019-…) of the American Society for Quality.
