Seferoğlu, S. S. (1997). "Ernest L. Boyer Technology Summit For Educators. Survey Results of Participant Perceptions: An Interim Report", National Center for Restructuring Education, Schools, & Teaching, Teachers College, Columbia University. New York.
This is an interim report to analyze the perceptions of participants who attended "Ernest L. Boyer Technology Summits for Educators" which was sponsored by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The main goals of the summits were to encourage teams of educators to discuss the impact of technology on their teaching and student learning and to help them explore how technology can best be used to help students master academic content. Other goals of the summits included introducing educators to current technology and encouraging collaboration between high school teachers, college professors, and media specialists. The survey data was collected through surveys conducted during the summits which were held in four different locations Pittsburgh, Nashville, Los Angeles, and Dallas.
A very high number of respondents reported that they had access to technology on a daily or weekly basis. Across the summits, the attendees agreed that use of technology makes teaching much more student-centered and information is easier to find and present. They also reported that they became more like facilitators than lecturers and that they spend less time planning lessons, grading papers and homework, and keeping track of students' grades.
