Course Description
The course educates participants about cloud infrastructure, service models and, aspects and use of cloud computing with regard to Big Data processing. The course covers technologies required to build classic (traditional), virtualized, and cloud data center environments. These technologies include compute, storage, networking, desktop and application virtualization. Prior to attending this course, participants should have basic understanding of computer systems and databases. Hardware related topics will NOT be covered in depth. That is, knowledge/experience in storage and network infrastructures will be an advantage, but it is NOT a must.
Course Work
Lectures will be conducted in Turkish on-line via Zoom. Zoom links will be posted through Piazza. Course materials will mostly be in English. Attendance and involvement in the classroom are highly encouraged. There will be 5 bonus point for involved students.
Grading
The lecturer principally does not let a student fail, as long as she/he tries enough. Grading will be done over attendance and involvement (5%), project work (70%), and a test (%30).
Project Works
As the project work, every student is supposed to present a topic/paper(s) in the classroom (50%) and deliver a project report at the end of the semester (20%, which will be proportional to what you got from your presentation.). What will be presented by students will be consulted with the lecturer first and then decided.
