I was born in Ankara, Turkey, in 1978. With a continuous academic involvement; I am currently an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Science, Department of Statistics, Operational Research Section at Hacettepe University. I was a visiting scholar in Knowledge/Intelligence Systems Laboratory at University of Toronto, Toronto, Canada for one year in 2014. I have been teaching full-time at Hacettepe University, generally teaching operation research, computer programming, statistics, intelligent optimization techniques, soft computing methods and integer programming courses. My main interest fields are time series forecasting, artificial neural networks, fuzzy time series, heuristic algorithms, and advanced statistical approaches. I have given seminars on these topics in various universities in Turkey.
I am an expert in heuristic algorithms and soft computing methods with special emphasis on time series forecasting. I have many publications including refereed journal papers, book chapters and books in these and related fields. I have also many international conference presentations. In the literature, I have proposed various advanced forecasting techniques, which are based on heuristic algorithms, computational methods and fuzzy logic, to solve different forecasting problems from different application areas. I have served as member of the scientific committee of different international conferences, and I am a reviewer for many international journals and conferences. Moreover, I am a member of editorial boards of many esteemed international journals. In addition, I have served as a member of the board of directors of Fuzzy Systems Association, of Life Long Learning Center of Hacettepe University, of The Turkish Statistical Association and of Hacettepe University Traffic and Road Safety Training and Research Center.
