Özet -- Abstract |
This
study examined how computer coordinators accomplished their duties assigned by the
Ministry of National Education. Their perspectives about Computer Assisted Education
applications were also investigated. The research was carried out to 211 computer coordinators who participated in
an in-service training program designed for computer coordinators between July 31
and August 25, 2000 in Ankara. A survey questionnaire, designed by the researcher, was used to gather data. Frequency distribution and percentages were calculated to interprete the data
collected through the questionnaire. The results could be summarized as follows: 1. Computer coordinators who participated in the research were mostly
men, over the age of 30, work in vocational high schools, basic education schools and
curriculum laboratory schools. The participants came from Central Anotolia, Black Sea and
Marmara regions, were college graduates, had over 10 years of teaching experience, had
average level of foreign language skills, and there were no computer teachers in their
schools. 2. Almost all computer coordinator teacher participated in in-service
training courses after 1990, which were mainly offered in Marmara, Fırat, and Gazi
Universities. They also worked in schools where there were computer labs. However, almost
half of the participants did not find in service training courses they attended sufficient
and suggested that those courses be organized by universities. 3. More than half of the computer coordinators said that they solved
lab related problemş by themselves. They helped teachers in their schools in using
computers. Almost half of them kept the labs open during the office hours. More than a
third of them did not have time to help other teachers in their school in Computer
Assisted Instruction. 4. Computer coordinators believe that; computer coordinators are
effective in the success of CAI applications, administrators could make CAI applications
work better, teachers who are part of CAI applications should be trained, the most
important factor for CAI applications (implementations) to be successful is the
goverment’s support, |
