Prof.Dr.Sema Çalış




Sema ÇAL was born in Denizli in 1957. She has completed her High School education at American Collegiate Institute in İzmir and TED Ankara College and has graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Pharmacy in 1981. In the same year she has joined to  the Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Pharmacy University of Hacettepe, as a research assistant. In 1984, she has completed her M.Sc. thesis entitled “Evaluation of the Adsorption of Propranolol Hydrochloride onto Some Antacids”. In 1989 she  finalized her Ph.D. thesis entitled “Preformulation Studies on C31G Mixture” During the years of 1991-1993 she studied in the University of Kentucky,  College of Pharmacy, Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmaceutics for post doctoral experience on the project entitled “Development of Biodegradable Microspheres for Peptide Delivery” under the coordinatorship of Professor Patrick P.  DeLuca.  At  the years of 1992 and 1995 she was assigned as Assistant Professor and Associated Professor respectively in Department of Pharmaceutical Tecnology in Faculty of Pharmacy of Hacettepe University and at 2002 had the full professorship position. She has various research articles published in scientific journals on biodegradable microspheres, peptide delivery, intraarticular administration of NSAID’s and implantation, papers presented in international conferences  and research projects completed  on formulation of microparticulate  systems. She was married to  Ünsal Çalış (Ph.D) who is a Professor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry Department in the same Faculty and has two children.
