Biography

Dr. Ali Topcu (Bsc, MSc, Ph.D.) is a Professor in the Department of Food Engineering at Hacettepe University. His teaching responsibilities include novel food processing and preservation, dairy science and technology, food machinery and equipment, and new food product development.  He was included in research programs in the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences at University College Cork as a post-doctorate, and in the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Reading as a research fellowship. He has experience of more than five years in the dairy industry as a food engineer and quality control manager.  His main research interests are focused on dairy science and technology, cheese, food analyses, novel technologies in food processing, and quality control. He leads a research group on the chemistry and processing of milk and dairy products. Due to the applications focus (product formulation and processing) of his research program, he collaborates with industry partners, domestically and internationally, through short projects, informal advice, training, and directly/fully-funded projects.  He authored and co-authored papers and book chapters in the fields of dairy, food technology, and food analysis.
